Only by having an abundant and diverse pool of trained volunteers can the Department effectively meet the needs of our community.
In case you missed it, burn permits are no longer available for sale. Instead, DNR has begun a new program that on a daily basis, they will update a website that tells whether burning is allowed, restricted, or not permitted.
You can find the website at http://novascotia.ca/natr/forestprotection/wildfire/burnsafe/ .If you don't have access to the internet, there is also a toll free number you can call at 1 (855) 564-2876(BURN) to get a prerecorded message.
